Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to bring?

As we need to be able to see your body move for the assessment and treatment, it is best to wear comfortable clothing such as shorts, sports bra, tank top. If you are not able to bring your own clothing with you, we can provide you with shorts and/or a gown.

Although not essential for your session, please bring along any scans or medical reports (e.g MRIs, x-ray, blood tests) you have had done in the past. This can help us get a more detailed view of your body.

How long is each session?

Your first session as a new patient will be 60 minutes, as it includes a lot more assessment. Follow-up sessions are usually between 30 to 60 minutes depending on your condition. Your practitioner will decide how much time is best suited.

Can I get treatment if I am pregnant?

Yes of course. We treat a variety of pregnany-related issues. It is recommended to seek treatment after your first trimester.

What to expect as a new patient?

Your first session will include case history, assessment, advice and treatment. Case history will involve your practitioner asking questions regarding your body, health and lifestyle in order to get a good overall picture of you. During the physical assessment and evaluation your practitioner will assess your muscles, joints and surrounding structures and how they move.

Treatment will involve a range of different hands-on techniques, often including different relevant modalities and exercises (for more details on what we do, click here).

How many sessions will I need?

This is difficult to answer, as each case is different. Certain problems can be solved in a couple of sessions, others involving rehabilitation or more complex/chronic conditions may require more sessions over a longer period of time. Your practitioner will be able to give you a better idea after they have completed your case history and assessment. No matter the problem, you will leave the first session having a plan and a much better understanding of what is going on, and what needs to be done.

Will my session be covered by my insurance?

This is dependant on your insurance company and your premium. You will have to check this with your insurer. Ask our receptionists for help if you need more information.

Do I need to get a referral?

You do not need to get a referral to get treated at Calibrate. We are trained as primary healthcare practitioners so you are in good hands. However some insurance companies do require a referral from a GP/surgeon to get your sessions reimbursed, if you need any assistance with this feel free to contact our receptionists.
